Herschel has arrived on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver with a new flagship location.

The Vancouver-based company has moved to 1080 Robson Street (formerly occupied by the closed BCBG Max Azria), marking its fourth outlet in North America.

Herschel’s line of classically designed backpacks is a centerpiece of the 2,800 square foot space, which also includes their expanded apparel collections, outerwear, hats and other accessories in the experiential space.

The eclectic space elevates Herschel’s must-have neutral palette alongside bright pops of pinks, citrus hues and royal blues. Opposites attract in this IG-worthy space: tritty concrete floors, industrial shelving, and convertible wall hardware are offset by marble accents, white oak furniture, and high-end floor fixtures.

The company’s love of technology (see their paid carry-on) is also represented by a custom digital sidewalk installation that sends animated video back into space. Unique details are also present in the fitting room, which displays a cascading photo story.

Beyond their signature bags, luggage and apparel, the Robson store has a curated reading area with magazines and books dubbed the Herschel Supply Book Fair. Topics include some of their favorite things, such as travel, music/film, architecture, and photography.

Herschel’s Robson Street store opens February 2/Herschel

Like the Gastown store, the space will aim to serve its community by being a platform for musicians, artists and other creators with talk series, events, artist-in-residence programs and workshops.

The store is scheduled to open on Wednesday, February 2. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Grand opening weekend February 4-6, which will feature a local DJ, product giveaways and free drinks from Coffee Bike Vancouver. The first 300 customers will also receive a limited-edition Herschel Supply Robson tote bag.

Herschel opened its first-ever retail location in Vancouver’s Gastown neighborhood in June 2018 with a sprawling 5,000 square feet of space. The brand also has a Metropolis location in Metrotown in the middle of their 40+ stores around the world.

Herschel HQ remains based in Vancouver on Alexander Street in Gastown. The company named its first CEO Jon Hoerauf in March 2021.
