The world will witness the launch of the lightest and fastest car ever, an electric hypercar, Ekonk
Ekonk in Indian scriptures means the beginning of divine light. The Big Bang.
âFor us, Ekonk signifies our true beginning, where for the first time design and innovation meet. It is our first vehicle that is ‘alive’.â – Chunky Vazirani
After working for auto giants like Rolls-Royce and Jaguar, Chunky Vazirani moved to Mumbai and founded Vazirani in 2015. The vision was to create the next generation of electric vehicles and technologies that would put India on the world map of extreme vehicles.
After launching India’s first concept hypercar, ‘Shul’ at the Goodwood Festival in UK, he had the honor of creating India’s first HyperCar, and to exceed his expectations, Chunky Vazirani offers to the world a new single-seater, spaceship-like car that claims to be not only the fastest car ever built in India, but one of the fastest cars in the world. The car is also testing the company’s unique battery solution that replaces complex century-old liquid cooling technology.
The problem with electric cars is that the batteries heat up and today’s solutions are blatantly complex and unsustainable. No one has yet created a tailor-made cooling solution for batteries.
Biomimicry (studying how animals and humans use respiration to regulate their body temperature) combined with some ancient Indian manufacturing techniques resulted in the invention of DiCo technology. DiCo allows batteries to cool directly with air, instead of needing liquid cooling that most manufacturers, including Tesla, use to keep their batteries cool. Vazirani’s new technology makes electric vehicles lighter, faster, safer and more economical. More importantly, it also increases the range of electric vehicles.
It is designed to be one of the most aerodynamically smooth cars, having one of the lowest drag coefficients for vehicles of this genre. This is mainly why the rear wheels of the car are covered. It stands out for its innovative battery efficiency and full carbon fiber body that reduces weight. Weighing 738 kg, it is the lightest electric vehicle ever made. And with a power of 722 hp, it almost reaches the golden; one to one, power to weight ratio.
The vehicle is end-to-end developed by Vazirani Automotive and has been tested at Naxtrax’s recently inaugurated high-speed facility near Indore to achieve a top speed of 309 km / h. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes only 2.54 seconds.
The character of the car is as mechanical and pure as an electric car can be. This car does not have electronic driving aids; it’s just the electric motors and the wheels – a pure and direct electrical connection. Ekonk’s technology and teachings will be visible in the production version of the Shul, which the brand is preparing for. After which, Ekonk might also see limited production for customers to purchase.
